The following FAB solutions are available for open subtitles keyed into the picture:
- Insertion into SDI with FAB SDI PCIe Card
- Insertion into SDI with Decklink 4K Extreme card
- Insertion into SDI with an upstream keyer
- Insertion into WMV files
- Insertion into MPEG1/MPEG2/MXF files
1. Insertion into SDI with FAB SDI PCIe Card
The FAB SDI PCIe Card is used for insertion of open subtitles into SD/HD-SDI video. The card has a bypass relay which switches to bypass in case of software or power failure. At the same time VITC/ATC timecode is read from the SD/HD-SDI input. Any standard PC with PCI-Express x1 slot with Windows 10 or Windows Server 2019 or higher can be used, like HPE ProLiant DL360/DL380. FAB Subtitler PRO, MPEG, LIVE, BCAST, XCD can be used.
2. Insertion into SDI with Decklink 4K Extreme card
The Decklink 4K Extreme card is used for insertion of open subtitles into SD/HD-SDI video. The card does not have a bypass relay and timecode cannot be read from the Decklink card in this operation mode. A separate timecode reader card is required in this configuration. A PC compatible with the Decklink card like HP Z440 is required. FAB Subtitler PRO, MPEG, LIVE, BCAST, XCD can be used.
3. Insertion into SDI with an upstream keyer
The Dektec DTA-2172 card is used to provide SDI Fill&Key outputs with open subtitles to an existing SDI upstream keyer. A separate timecode reader card is required in this configuration. FAB Subtitler PRO, MPEG, LIVE, BCAST, XCD can be used.
The Decklink 4K Extreme 12G card is used to provide SDI Fill&Key outputs with open subtitles to an existing SDI upstream keyer. FAB Subtitler can read timecode from the SDI input of this card in this configuration. FAB Subtitler PRO, MPEG, LIVE, BCAST, XCD can be used.
4. Insertion into WMV files
FAB Subtitler STD/PRO/LIVE/MPEG can open subtitle files in many different formats and insert the subtitles from the subtitle file as open subtitles into a WMV video file. Watchfolder operation is supported in FAB Subtitler PRO but FAB Subtitler MPEG is required to be able to control FAB Subtitler using a REST interface.
5. Insertion into MPEG1/MPEG2/MXF files
FAB Subtitler MPEG can open subtitle files in many different formats and insert subtitles from the subtitle file as open subtitles into MPEG1/MPEG2/MXF files. Watchfolder operation and control of FAB Subtitler using a REST interface are available.
