Teletext - Basic Products
Teletext Network Controller - Internet Connectivity

FAB Teletext Network Controller offers interfaces to the Internet by being able to export pages in HTML format and by supporting standard Internet Protocols for exchange of information.

Following Internet Protocols are supported to allow easy exchange of information

FTP

HTTP

POP3

SMTP

External Data Providers

The above protocols can be used to receive data from external data providers. These can transfer data using E-mail file attachments and FTP and therefore minimize the communication cost by using the Internet.

FAB Web Controller Web Access can be used by external users that only require a web browser to transfer data to the teletext system. Click here to find out more

Users that wish to provide complete teletext pages can use the FAB Teletext Editor for Windows and send them as file attachments by using the standard E-mail program.

FTP

FTP protocol is supported in 3 ways

FTP Server is integrated into FAB Teletext Network Controller. Users that login into the Network Controller receive the same NTFS security rights for read/write access not depending on whether they login with Windows Explorer, FAB Teletext Editor or FTP client program
bullet

FTP downloads of files and directories (even recursive) can be scheduled with the integrated scheduler and executed at certain times and days

FTP uploads of files and directories (even recursive) can be scheduled with the integrated scheduler and executed at certain times and days

HTTP

The HTTP protocol allows downloading files from web servers. The download can be scheduled by the integrated scheduler and executed at certain times and days.

The files which are downloaded can be converted to text files and directly imported into teletext pages.

FAB Teletext Network Controller can also execute programs developed with EDL Interpreter which is a separate product. By using such programs downloaded HTML files can be converted into a format suitable for a teletext page.

POP3

The POP3 protocol is used for downloading emails from an Internet Mail Server. The mail download process can be scheduled at certain times and days.

Received emails are checked for correct sender and contents and attached files are extracted. Generally the attached files are either teletext pages in .ETP format which can be stored into a directory or put directly on-air. Attached files can also be simple text files which are later automatically imported into teletext pages and also put on-air.

SMTP

The SMTP protocol is used for sending e-mail messages. FAB Teletext Network Controller is sending status e-mail messages to the system administrator notifying him about possible problems. Generally an email is sent when the problem occurs and another email is sent when the problem is fixed.

An example of the notification can be that a Data Generator can not be reached over network.
