New Functions in FAB Subtitler Version 6
The following new functionality was implemented in FAB Subtitler version 6 which was not available in previous versions:
All editions now contain the GLOBAL functionalitiy for support of all scripts incl. Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hebrew, Arabic, Cyrillic, Greek and all other languages supported by Windows.
Runs under Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 32 Bit and 64 Bit operating system. For installation under Windows Server 2008 it is necessary to install the "Desktop Experience" Feature of Windows Server 2008.
A special speech interface for transmission of live subtitles with interface to Dragon Naturally Speaking speech recognition software is implemented in LIVE Edition.
MPEG1 video files are handled frame accurately for all framerates.
Support for various additional types of MXF video files (PDProxy, HD).
Software Assurance at reduced price is available for customers that wish to have the right to download the latest version of the software at any time.
Timecode is extracted correctly from Quicktime video files.
Insertion of Copyright bits into WSS is possible in MPEG Edition.
New
Functions in FAB Subtitler Version 5
The following new functionality was implemented in FAB Subtitler version
5 which was not available in previous versions:
All editions are HD compatible. A separate HD Edition of the software is not necessary and also not available any more.
Runs under Windows Vista, Windows XP and Windows 2000.
Export of subtitles for Digital Cinema available in DVD and PRO Edition.
Insertion of DVB and teletext subtitles into TS files is available in PRO and MPEG Edition.
MPEG Edition supports insertion of open and teletext subtitles into MPEG2 and MXF files.
MXF files with MPEG2 and DV video are supported.
Video files in following formats can be opened for preparation of video files: WMV, MPEG1, MPEG2, DivX, MOV, TS with MPEG2 and H.264, MXF with MPEG2 and DV.
Export for HD-DVD and Blu-ray is available in DVD/PRO/MPEG Editions.
8 bit codepages are supported by non-GLOBAL versions. This means that non-GLOBAL versions support Latin, Cyrillic, Greek, Hebrew and Arabic script all at the same time. GLOBAL Edition is still required for complete Unicode support for Chinese, Japanese, Korean, …
The STD/PRO/MPEG Editions support conversion of different types of video files to WMV format which can be used for preparation of subtitles. Only the MPEG Edition converts MXF files to WMV because the MPEG2 codec is necessary for this which is only included in the MPEG Edition
FAB Subtitler version 5 uses a new USB Dongle which was already shipped with some versions 4. If the dongle serial number starts with AU or M the dongle will have to be exchanged when upgrading to version 5.
Play audio from video in a window card can be enabled in options even when the internal
audio cable is not connected.
HD-DVD Text export in XAS format implemented in DVD/PRO/MPEG Edition.
Teletext Page 100 and test pages can be inserted
into video files when inserting teletext subtitles into TS/MPEG2/MXF files.
Low cost PCI card WinTV-PVR150 is supported for display of video on PC monitor and recording of video onto hard disk.
Softitler DOC files and PNS files can be imported.
FAB Digital Broadcast Keyer with bypass relay is supported.
Simultaneous work on the same subtitle file is supported over FAB Subtitler Server in LIVE Edition.
Drake, Etere and Playbox / Airbox automation systems are supported in BCAST Edition.
Characters [ and ] can be used as underline markers in text import/export.
Dalet news system via MOS protocol is supported in LIVE Edition.
Subtitles can be transmitted over network to TSS Teletext System.
NEWFOR over TCP/IP protocol implmented both for reception (BCAST) and transmission (PRO/LIVE/BCAST) of subtitles.
Recording of video to file is available in PRO and LIVE Edition.
Printing subtitles to video file is available in PRO and LIVE Edition.
Teletext subtitles can be decoded from analogue/SDI video input and stored with timecode into STL subtitle file (PRO/BCAST).
GPI Input is implemeted for control of bypass on Digital Broadcast Keyer.
Digital Cinema DTS-CSS implemented in DVD/PRO/MPEG Edition.
Logo keyer for SDI video is available in PRO/LIVE/MPEG/BCAST Edition.
XML subtitle file export for Flash Player implemented.
New Functions in FAB Subtitler Version 4
SRT files can be saved in File / Save as and SAMI files can be exported in File / Export.
FAB Subtitler PRO and MPEG Editions allow export of bitmap subtitles for Sony and Sonic Blu-ray authoring system, HD DVD Advanced Content and HDi Interactive HD DVD
FAB Subtitler can convert timecodes of the subtitle file between different frame rates (23.976/24/25/29.97/30 fps) by preserving the time or by preserving the number of frames
FAB Subtitler PRO and MPEG Editions allow export of bitmap subtitles for Avid/Final Cut Pro/Adobe Premiere editing systems
FAB Subtitler MPEG Edition available for insertion of in-vision (open), teletext and DVB bitmap subtitles into MPEG transport stream files
