FAB Subtitler MPEG
FAB Subtitler MPEG is HD video compatible and is a successor of FAB Subtitler Professional and it includes all functions of FAB Subtitler Professional.
Nowadays more and more programs are played out from video and transport stream files using video servers. FAB Subtitler MPEG can be used to insert in-vision (open), DVB bitmap and teletext subtitles directly into video or transport stream files bypassing conversion to SDI or ASI signal.
No additional hardware is required as the subtitles are inserted directly into the input video or transport stream file according to timecode by using software only. The result is a new video or transport stream file with inserted subtitles. This saves 2 VTRs, the playout server and the recording server for conversion of the original material to the subtitled material when compared to the traditional way of insertion of subtitles into SDI video or ASI stream (see FAB Subtitler Professional).
Main functions:
Insertion of in-vision (open) and teletext subtitles into MXF, GXF, MPEG2 and WMV files
When inserting into MXF/GXF files the main video file in the MXF/GXF container is replaced by a new video file with inserted in-vision (open) or teletext (VBI) subtitles. All MPEG2 formats are supported like IMX D10-25, D10-30, D10-40, D10-50, XDCAM for HD video and other MPEG2 formats with variable and constant bitrates in addition to DV and WMV (Windows Media / VC1) formats.
Insertion of DVB bitmap subtitles (ETSI 300743) into transport stream (TS) files
An additional stream with user definable PID is added into the transport stream file. Any format of the video file (MPEG2/MPEG4/H.264/...) is supported.
Insertion of Teletext subtitles (ETSI 300706) into transport stream (TS) files
An additional stream with user definable PID is added into the transport stream file. Any format of the video file (MPEG2/MPEG4/H.264...) is supported.
Conversion of MXF/GXF and MPEG2 files into low bitrate WMV files
The resulting WMV file (200 kbit/s to 3Mbit/s) contains information about scene changes and can be used for subtitle preparation.
API for Automation through Command Files
An API is available so that the insertion of subtitles into files can be controlled by external applications through simple command files.
When inserting in-vision subtitles and converting MXF/MPEG2 files to WMV it is possible to add a station logo to the picture for branding purposes.
